Lately I’ve been thinking about riddles for my novel. I came across some really cool ones and I wanted to share them with you! I’ll put up the answers in tomorrow’s post so I leave you with some food for thought. You can leave your answers in the comments below and check them tomorrow. Have fun with these!
If you have me, you want to share me.
If you share me, you haven’t got me.
What am I?
What is always coming, but never arrives?
What can run, but never walks;
Has a mouth, but never talks;
Has a head, but never weeps;
Has a bed, but never sleeps?
We hurt without moving.
We poison without touching.
We bear the truth and the lies.
We are not to be judged by our size.
What are we?
Tolkien’s riddle from LOTR
Voiceless it cries
Wingless it flutters
Toothless it bites,
Mouthless it mutters?
Rowling’s riddle from HP
First think of the person who lives in disguise,
Who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.
Next, tell what’s always the last thing to mend,
The middle of middle and end of the end?
And finally give me the sound often heard
During the search for a hard-to-find word.
Now string them together and answer me this,
Which creature would you be unwilling to kiss?
Since I saw that some got the easier ones, I thought of adding two more!
At night they come without being fetched.
By day they are lost without being stolen.
What are they?
With pointed fangs I sit and wait,
With piercing force I dole out fate,
Over bloodless victims proclaiming my might,
Eternally joining in a single bite.
What Am I?
